What's Rochester like?
Rochester is so much better than I thought it was when I was growing up here-there really are some great unique features here: the parks, architecture, live music, amazing art, activism... One of the best reasons to live in Rochester is the festivals: Jazz, Lilac, Corn Hill, Park Ave., High Falls Film, etc.
What's the best first step to meeting people and finding your way around?
Tap into the local networks, but most of my friends I found through school and work. Just get out and talk to people-what's the worst that could happen? They might ignore you? Also, read the local publications for current events; there's so much going on.
Any other thoughts/advice?
Keep your mind and heart open. Rochester really does have so much to offer
